Scott Johnson

Scott Johnson is an architect and founding principal of XDEA, a design firm located in New York City focusing on the intersection of public space and architecture. He has over 24 years of experience practicing in a broad background in design, construction, management, and real estate. Prior to founding XDEA, Scott was a Principal at Diller Scofidio + Renfro, COO at Robert A. M. Stern Architects, and COO at Richard Meier and Partners.

 

In New York, Scott has worked on the High Line, Culture Shed and the Museum of Modern Art expansion.  His performing arts experience includes projects at Rice and Holy Cross Universities and Lincoln Center in New York.  He has also worked on residential projects in Bodrum (Turkey), Warsaw (Poland) Shenzhen and Tianjin (China), San Francisco, and large-scale mixed-use projects in London, Newark, and Chicago.

 

Scott was also Commissioner for the Town of Huntington's Historic Preservation Commission for 16 years, spearheading efforts to create four new parks through the Open Land Acquisition Fund.

 

He has lectured at the National Centre for Performing Arts in Mumbai and at the International Convention of Architecture in Budapest, among others, and has been featured in numerous publications.  He is the author of "Richard and the King," a soon to be published book about his experience designing a new palace for the Ruler of Dubai.

 

Scott received his B.A. in Architecture from Cornell University and M.S. in Real Estate from NYU.  He is on the board of the Lark Play Development Center in NYC.
